About Us

Our Journey

Throughout history, alcohol has played a crucial social role in many African societies. Beginning with palm wine on the west and east coasts of Africa to banana beer in the Great Lakes Region. Africans have been using a variety of fruits, grains and other natural substances to brew alcohol. Ethiopians fermented honey to make mead, while South Africans fermented grains to create sorghum beer.

At Egoli Distillery, we continue this rich tradition of using natural substances to create our spirits. Our master distiller blends traditional and modern distilling techniques to produce our complex spirits. .

Our Story

Egoli Distillery is a South African manufacturer of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Egoli Distillery has a distribution division that distributes Egoli Distillery products and products manufactured by other companies across and outside South Africa.

Egoli Distillery was founded in November 2019 by our master distiller JB Maina. The journey to develop our products took 15 months of research, trials, and development. Our distillers spend months researching traditional African brewing and distilling techniques. Our craftsmen and botanists visited several African countries to acquire our botanicals. Our botanicals and grains come from South Africa, Ghana, Kenya, Congo, Tanzania, and Madagascar.

Our Impact

Environmental Conservation is a central core at Egoli Distillery. Egoli is an eco-friendly distillery that incorporates conservation at every point of its operations. . We have invested in treatment facilities at the distillery to ensure that we are correctly disposing of the by-products created during the distilling process. Our feedstock is carefully selected to avoid threatening food security, energy-saving is implemented throughout the production, and Distillery grain waste is recycled into animal feeds.

Eco-friendly production initiatives are a cornerstone for a brand’s environmental impact, but a crucial part of a brand’s holistic environmental footprint is employee welfare. Sustainable treatment
of employees includes paying workers living wages, maintaining suitable working conditions, benefits, and going above and beyond to support employees.
